Insights on Automation in India

Speaking on broader industry trends, the CMD provides a compelling perspective on the automation landscape in India. “The Indian manufacturing sector is undergoing a dynamic transformation,” he explains. “While India is globally known for its service-based economy, there’s a strong, evolving layer of manufacturing that’s rapidly embracing automation and robotics.”

He points out that the growing shift of global production lines to India highlights the nation’s engineering capabilities and cost advantages. As a result, there is a noticeable increase in smart manufacturing initiatives across sectors.

“However, automation in India is rarely one-size-fits-all. Diverse industries demand localized, customized solutions, which presents both a challenge and an opportunity,” he points out.

He adds that manufacturers are increasingly aware that automation is no longer optional—it is essential. However, successful implementation hinges on a deep understanding of each sector’s unique needs. “Ultimately, automation is not a final goal but a continuous journey—one that requires collaboration, adaptability, and innovation at every step,” concludes Chougule.
