Facing & Centering (FC) is typically done on bar stock or cylindrical castings or forgings to ensure accurate length control and perfect alignment of centers for further operations. If only the facing operation needs to be done, it can also be performed on asymmetrical components with the help of specially customized fixtures.
Facing & Centering commonly finds application in components like round bars, shafts, spindles, crankshafts, camshafts, transmission shafts, universal joint spiders, tripods, yokes, etc.
The all-new TFC-1000V machine caters to a wide range of jobs from Ø20 mm to Ø100 mm and lengths from 150 mm to 1000 mm. The machine can also accommodate a maximum Ø160 mm component for face milling using a larger optional spindle size – BT50. The machine has a very rigid base and column structure. The machine configuration supports easy chip disposal. It has four spindles driven by two induction spindle motors with VFD for each motor. Axes movements are through precision LM guideways and ball screws from reputed brands. Component clamping is done with a hydraulically operated self-centering fixture. With one set of jaws, one can clamp a wide range of diameters (Range-1 from Ø20–Ø70 and Range-2 from Ø70–Ø160 mm). The machine operations are controlled through a FANUC CNC system and axes servo motors. The machine features aesthetically designed sheet metal guarding that facilitates safe operation.
The machine can be offered with a range of optional features to enhance productivity and versatility. These include a rear chip conveyor for efficient chip management, an automatic door for improved operator convenience, and a higher-power induction spindle motor for handling demanding machining tasks. Additionally, AC servo spindle motors can be provided specifically for tapping operations, while a coolant-through spindle option is available for carbide center drills. For applications requiring frequent tool changes, a power drawbar can also be included to streamline the process and minimize downtime.
The machine is ideally suited for any industry involved in the manufacturing of shafts, including motors, pumps, electric vehicle (EV) shafts, and automotive shafts such as camshafts, crankshafts, and transmission shafts. It is designed to cater to a wide range of components across these applications, making it an excellent fit for companies producing motor parts, pump components, and various types of automotive and EV shafts. The target customers span across motor, pump, EV, and automotive manufacturing sectors that require high-precision shaft production solutions.
